What an absolute thriller! The Jägermeister German House was the place to be for Germany’s dramatic match against the Ivory Coast, and the energy inside Dublin Calling Pub on Granville Street was nothing short of electric.
While the action on the pitch had everyone on the edge of their seats—especially with substitute Deniz Undav becoming the ultimate hero by netting a stunning second-half brace to secure Germany’s 2-1 comeback victory—the atmosphere inside the pub was a whole event of its own. Over 600 passionate supporters have already packed the German House across just the first two games of this 2026 tournament!
Elevating the Fan Experience on the Second Floor
For this past match, the German House experience moved up to the second floor of Dublin Calling, and it completely transformed game day. The upper level was the ultimate fan sanctuary, packed with local supporters and international visitors coming together to celebrate the beautiful game.
The second-floor setup featured:
- Bigger, Crystal-Clear TVs: Ensuring no one missed a single second of the intense VAR drama or Undav’s thrilling 94th-minute stoppage-time winner.
- Interactive Fun: When fans weren’t glued to the screens, they were taking advantage of the pub’s awesome second-floor activities, including mini-golf, pool, and dart lanes.
- Community Vibes: Classic picnic tables gave the space a fantastic, authentic beer-garden feel, making it incredibly easy to chat, share a drink, and cheer alongside fellow fans.
One of the most beautiful parts of the day was meeting people from all over the place. The World Cup has a magical way of uniting global football culture, and seeing local fans mingle with international visitors under one roof made the victory taste even sweeter.
The Ultimate Crossroads of Global Football Culture
Dublin Calling isn’t just hosting the German House; it has become the undisputed epicenter for football fans in Vancouver. The venue has a storied history as a home base for the Vancouver Whitecaps Southsiders, as well as the bustling England House. During this tournament, it has played host to Australians, Belgians, and passionate supporters from every corner of the globe.
To top it all off, there is a brand-new, FIFA-only patio right in the middle of Granville Street! It creates an unmatched street-party atmosphere where fans from completely different backgrounds can come together, share a table, and celebrate the beautiful game.

The Engine Room: Meet the Team Behind the German House
This incredible atmosphere doesn’t just happen by accident. It is powered by a dedicated team working tirelessly behind the scenes. Dan Tanner and Artikas Keschvari, alongside Elke Porter, are the true engine room driving the German House.
Elke Porter is a long-serving event and media figure within the German expat community in British Columbia, having dedicated many years to bringing people together through sport and culture. Together, this team has reached a massive milestone: the German House is now an Official Branch of the Germany Football Team Supporters Club!
Want to be a part of it? Membership is completely FREE. Come see Artikas Keschvari at the next match to sign up and officially join the club.
Looking Ahead: Beyond the World Cup
The momentum won’t stop when the FIFA World Cup concludes. Once the tournament wraps up, the team will shift their focus to Mia San Vancouver: Official FC Bayern Fan Club, dedicated to growing the Bayern Munich following right here in British Columbia. There is so much to look forward to for local football fans!
A massive thank you goes out to Artikas, Dan, and Elke for making this community hub possible.
