On Friday, September 13th, 2024, Surrey City Hall hosted the second roadshow leading up to Hannover Messe 2025, where Canada will be the official partner nation.
The event, held between 10 AM and 12 noon, brought together industry leaders and innovators to explore the vast opportunities that lie ahead at the world’s premier industrial fair. The mayor of Surrey, Brenda Locke, gave the opening address. She was very excited that the event took place in Surrey, BC.
The roadshow showed Canadian businesses how to shine on a global platform, offering insights into how they can leverage this opportunity to grow their businesses and network with other innovative business owners in Hannover.
The introductory message was presented by Master of Ceremonies Jay Myers from NGen Canada. Myers also introduced Marco Siebert from Germany, who has been working with the Deutsche Messe, responsible for the Hannover Messe since 2007.

The Panel Discussion
The highlight of the event was a dynamic panel discussion featuring:
- Leon Noel Merse from the Canadian-German Chamber of Commerce, who spoke about the significance of the Canada-Germany partnership at Hannover Messe and the potential for long-term business growth through international collaboration.
- Christina Bilyk, who provided in-depth knowledge on investment opportunities, stressing how Canadian companies can position themselves to attract international investors at the fair.
- Greig Walsh from Greenlight Innovation, who attended several Hannover Messe Trade Shows in the past, shared valuable tips and tricks on how to navigate the event successfully. From setting up booths to maximizing networking opportunities, his advice was grounded in real-world experience and designed to help businesses make the most of their participation.
A Roadmap to Success
Attendees were given a clear roadmap on how to prepare for Hannover Messe 2025, from understanding the logistics to planning their exhibit strategies. The roadshow emphasized the importance of early preparation, highlighting that the partnership between Canada and Germany offers unparalleled opportunities for innovation, trade, and technological collaboration.
