The Hannover Messe 2024 took place at the Hannover Fairground, an exhibition area in the Mittelfeld district of Hanover, Germany. With 392,453 m² of covered indoor space, 58,000 m² of open-air space, 24 halls and pavilions, and a convention center with 35 function rooms, it is the largest exhibition ground in the world. The Hannover Messe was held from April 22 to April 26, 2024, and next year it will take place from March 31 to April 3, 2025.
An exciting development for 2025 is that Canada will be the official partner country, aiming to set up at least seven pavilions for Canadian enterprises, companies, and entrepreneurs. The German Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Toronto is leading this project and is currently visiting cities in Eastern Canada to introduce the concept. They might be coming to Western Canada in September. Stay tuned, and I will keep you updated if this happens.

In the meantime, I will be sharing stories about some of the interesting companies you might see when visiting the fair. One of these is the Heliotics Company headquartered in Trencin, Slovakia. Heliotics provides complete software solutions for production and industry monitoring with the use of Internet of Things (IoT) leveraging existing LoRaWAN and NB-IoT network coverage and smart sensors integrated into a fully modular platform Heliotics CORE.
To break all this down, for people who are not sure what IoT is, it stands for “Internet of Things.” According to Oracle (the company “”Oracle”, not the oracle who is a person or thing considered to provide insight, wise counsel or prophetic predictions) The Internet of Things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects—“things”—that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the internet. These devices range from ordinary household objects to sophisticated industrial tools. With more than 7 billion connected IoT devices today, experts are expecting this number to grow to 22 billion by 2025.
The Hannover Messe 2024 was a special experience for Heliotics, marking a significant milestone in their journey towards revolutionizing the IoT and the industrial technology landscape. Together with their esteemed partners UPLINK Network and the Helium Foundation, they enjoyed this chance to showcase their latest innovations in smart solutions powered by Helium LoRaWAN. They have been part of the Helium LoRaWAN Network coverage creation since the beginning of 2021.
LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a low-power, wide-area networking protocol designed to wirelessly connect battery-operated devices to the internet in regional, national, or global networks. It is particularly well-suited for the Internet of Things (IoT) applications due to its ability to support long-range communications and its low power consumption. LoRaWAN is commonly used in applications such as smart cities, agriculture, environmental monitoring, industrial automation, and asset tracking, where devices need to send small amounts of data over long distances with minimal power consumption.

Held annually, Hannover Messe is one of the world’s leading trade fairs for industrial technology. It brings together innovators, thought leaders, and industry experts from various sectors to showcase the latest advancements in technology, automation, and industrial solutions.
With a significant focus on Industry 4.0 and IoT integration in production environments in 2024, this was the perfect place for Heliotics to showcase the very potential of their smart industry monitoring solutions. Staying in the Wireless Hall, they had an amazing opportunity to present different perspectives of the benefits of the IoT technology:
- fully modular and no-code Heliotics CORE platform providing a complete solution for smart industry monitoring
- the world’s largest LoRaWAN network Helium
- our LoRaWAN Network Server we operate together with UPLINK – the LORAWAY

Showcasing numerous live demos
With 20+ live use cases both on their stand and with sensors distributed around the hall, they were able to showcase various smart industrial solutions in different use cases, such as:
- non-invasive energy consumption monitoring (individual machines or central unit)
- machine conditions monitoring (flow, temperature, vibrations,…)
- material & waste management in factories (levels or weighing, for any type of container and material)
- air quality monitoring (CO2, temperature, humidity,…)
- people & vehicle tracking (positioning, movement, in-transit)
- remote control with Class C devices (process automation)

Official LNS product launch
On this special occasion at the Hannover Messe, they decided to make it the venue for the official launch of their LoRaWAN Network Server, operated and managed in partnership with UPLINK Network. Powered by Helium, they officially launched their LNS, named LORAWAY: Your Way to the World of LoRaWAN, on the third day of the fair.

In addition to the exhibition, they also found time to gain new knowledge and learn about the latest technology trends. They attended an IoT-Meet-Up event organized by IoT Use Case, where they gained insights from the IoT space through great talks and excellent catering. Moreover, to emphasize the significance of the technology they use, they attended a speech about the features and importance of LoRaWAN, titled “LoRaWAN – Quo Vadis?!” delivered by their friend and partner Jubin Molai from UPLINK Network.

In summary, it was five days of a highly successful fair for Heliotics. As an exhibitor, they not only advocated for the benefits of LoRaWAN, IoT, and the solutions they provide using the technology, but also broadened their knowledge by learning many new things.
If you want to join them on the way to a more connected future, reach out to them to start using IoT together. They will be glad to help you find the best solutions tailored to the needs of your manufacturing and production facility.
