Vancouver, BC – written March 4, 2024 – Elke Porter, the long-term Secretary of the German Canadian Business Association (GCBA), has announced her decision to step down from her position after ten years of unwavering commitment and exemplary service on the Board.
Porter’s tenure as Secretary has been marked by her relentless dedication to the mission of the GCBA and her tireless efforts in planning events, spearheading communications, and leading public relations and marketing initiatives. In her role as Secretary in charge of communications, Porter worked closely with the President, Beatrice Schreiber, and other well-known Board Members such as Abdel Karim Awwad from Brian Jessel BMW.
Everything began with a collaboration between President Schreiber and Porter during the organization of the “featured nation” Germany at the European Festival held at Swangard Stadium in 2014. Impressed by Porter’s dedication and capabilities, Schreiber extended the invitation for Porter to join the GCBA as secretary. Since then, their partnership has been unwavering, as they both remain steadfast in their commitment to serving the German community and advancing the objectives of the association together.
Reflecting on her tenure, Porter expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the GCBA and highlighted the collective achievements made possible through cooperation and dedication. She emphasized her sense of satisfaction in the progress made by the association during her tenure and expressed confidence in the continued success of the GCBA under new leadership.
President Beatrice Schreiber praised Porter for her invaluable contributions and unwavering dedication, citing her as a driving force behind the GCBA’s success over the past decade. Schreiber extended her heartfelt appreciation to Porter for her joint effort and tireless support, acknowledging the profound impact of her service on the organization and the German-Canadian community at large.
