St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (St. Markus) in Vancouver will be holding its Annual General Meeting (Jahreshauptversammlung) on Sunday, February 22, 2026, beginning at 12:30 p.m., following a joint worship service. Members who wish to attend remotely are encouraged to contact the church office to arrange participation via Zoom. Invitations have already been sent out, and members are asked to check their email inboxes for details.
St. Mark’s holds a special place in Vancouver’s faith community as the last remaining church in the city to offer regular worship services in German. Founded over 60 years ago by German-speaking immigrants, the congregation has grown into a warm and diverse community that welcomes people from all walks of life and all corners of the world. As a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC), the church proudly carries on the tradition of serving both German and English speakers, offering services in both languages.
Beyond Sunday worship, St. Mark’s offers a rich calendar of events and celebrations throughout the year, including beloved German traditions such as Pfingsten (Pentecost) and the Lenten season. The congregation is a place of genuine connection, where newcomers can meet fellow community members, explore opportunities to volunteer, and become part of something meaningful. Whether someone is looking to deepen their faith, celebrate cultural traditions, or simply find a welcoming community, St. Mark’s offers a place to belong.
Those interested in learning more about the congregation, attending the AGM, or getting involved in volunteer opportunities are encouraged to reach out to the church office. New faces are always welcome at St. Mark’s — a place where faith, culture, and community come together.
