Prost, Vancouver! ERDINGER Weissbräu Partners with the Whitecaps in a Match Made in Bavaria
Vancouver Whitecaps FC have announced a new official partnership with ERDINGER Weissbräu, one of Germany’s most celebrated wheat beer producers, naming the Bavarian brewery the Official Import Beer of the club through the 2026 season. The deal reflects not only a shared passion for soccer and community, but also the growing international character of Vancouver’s fanbase — and it comes with one of football’s most beloved personalities along for the ride.
“Over the past year we have welcomed thousands of new fans from around the world who have adopted the ‘Caps as their team,” said Aditi Bhatt, Whitecaps FC Chief Commercial Officer. “Soccer and beer culture go hand in hand, and ERDINGER’s heritage and authenticity make them a perfect match for our passionate supporters.”
Founded in 1886 in the Bavarian town of Erding, northeast of Munich, ERDINGER has grown into the world’s largest wheat beer brewery, exporting to over 90 countries while never brewing a single bottle outside its hometown. That commitment to place is part of what makes ERDINGER so distinctive — every pour carries a piece of Bavaria with it.
And what a pour it is. ERDINGER Weissbier is brewed using the brewery’s unique yeasts, which provide fruity notes and an unmistakably fresh flavour, finished through a traditional double maturation method — the “Bayerische Edelreifung” — in which the beer matures a second time in the bottle, allowing its lively character and harmonious interplay of aromas to fully unfold. The result is a beer that is spicy and yeasty-fresh on the nose, with fruity notes of apple and banana, a hint of clove, and a malt sweetness balanced by lively carbonation — refreshing and full-bodied at the same time. It is, in the truest sense, liquid Bavaria.
ERDINGER plays ambassador to Bavarian hospitality worldwide, with its wheat beer specialties personifying the Bavarian lifestyle and enjoyment of life. That spirit travels well — and it has found a natural home in Vancouver.
Helping carry that message is one of the most recognizable faces in world football. Thomas Müller, the 2014 World Cup winner and FC Bayern Munich legend, became ERDINGER’s official brand ambassador on January 1st, 2026. Hailing from the Alpine foothills south of Munich, Müller embodies the down-to-earth, warm Bavarian way of life that ERDINGER has always stood for. The connection feels deeply personal — Müller has described ERDINGER as more than just a brewery, calling it a Bavarian cultural asset and a piece of home. Now playing for the Whitecaps in MLS, Müller’s presence in Vancouver gives the partnership an authenticity that no marketing campaign could manufacture.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place across North America, Müller’s commitment to the Whitecaps gives ERDINGER’s global presence a significant boost, particularly in Canada and the United States.
On matchdays at BC Place, ERDINGER will be poured at select stadium concessions, headline the pre-match Fan Zone on Terry Fox Plaza, and appear across videoboards, digital screens, and broadcast coverage. An ERDINGER Man of the Match award and a branded pitchside hospitality club behind the player benches will keep the brand front and centre throughout every game. Beyond the stadium, joint events, co-branded merchandise, and partner pub activations across the city are also in the works.
For Whitecaps supporters, it all adds up to a richer matchday experience — world-class soccer, world-class beer, and a taste of Bavarian Gemütlichkeit right here on the Pacific Coast. Prost!
PS. In the last game, Sebastian Berhalter became the “ERDINGER Man of the Match” when the Whitecaps beat Minnesota 6:0.
