Vancouver, BC – Against the stunning backdrop of downtown Vancouver’s waterfront, Westcoast German News had the pleasure of attending a remarkable networking event: the Austrian Business Breakfast, hosted at the Pinnacle Hotel on Hastings. Organized by ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, in collaboration with ABA – Invest in Austria, Vienna Business Agency, BABEG – Success in Carinthia, and go-international, this invitation-only gathering brought together Austrian innovators, entrepreneurs, and local business leaders during Web Summit Vancouver 2025.

Running from 8:30 to 10:00 am, the breakfast offered attendees fresh coffee, continental treats, and—most importantly—a meaningful platform for forging international connections. Representatives from Austria’s vibrant startup and business ecosystem shared their visions, introduced groundbreaking products, and explored collaborative opportunities with Canadian and global delegates.
In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, guests mingled with Austrian tech startups, government investment agencies, and representatives of established companies—all eager to showcase Austria as a fertile ground for business, innovation, and international investment.
The Austrian delegation emphasized Austria’s forward-thinking business culture, world-class infrastructure, and strong R&D sectors. With a focus on med-tech, renewable energy, sustainable mobility, and digital solutions like augmented reality in the arts, Austria is clearly punching above its weight in the global innovation arena.
Attendees were also gifted a copy of “MONOCLE – The Entrepreneurs”, a publication highlighting Austria’s business ingenuity and design excellence. The magazine featured stories about ergonomic children’s bicycles, advanced medical devices, and a wide variety of export-ready innovations—all proudly “Made in Austria.” This dynamic combination of heritage and modernity paints a compelling picture of a country that’s not only rich in history and scenic beauty but also thriving at the forefront of global industry.
Austrian officials were quick to point out the country’s many advantages: a high standard of living, political stability, excellent healthcare, and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. These qualities make Austria an attractive destination for international investors and businesses looking to expand into the EU market.
The ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA team, Austria’s international trade arm, played a central role in organizing the event. With over 100 offices in 70+ countries, they assist Austrian businesses in going global—and help international partners connect with Austrian suppliers, innovators, and service providers. Their efforts help amplify Austria’s international presence and ensure that partnerships extend beyond borders.
The breakfast also served as a prelude to the Austrian Pavilion at the Web Summit Vancouver, where Austria’s creativity, productivity, and technological innovation are being showcased at Booth #E365. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and continue the conversation.
This exclusive morning meetup reinforced Austria’s role as a serious player in the international business arena. As we sipped Austrian-roast coffee and heard stories of entrepreneurial success, it became clear: Austria is not just a picturesque alpine destination—it’s a hub of opportunity, ingenuity, and global collaboration.
