1. Eligibility
This contest is open to legal residents of British Columbia, Canada who have reached the age of majority (19 years old in BC) at the time of entry.
Employees, contractors, and directors of Westcoast German News/Westcoast German Media, [the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF)/VIFF Society] and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, sibling, child) and household members, whether related or not, are not eligible to enter or win.
Void where prohibited by law.
2. Entry Period
This contest begins on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 3pm Pacific Time (PT) and ends on September 30, 2026 at 12 midnight PT (“Entry Period”). Entries received outside the Entry Period will not be counted. Sponsor’s server/platform timestamp is the official time of record.

Limit: One entry per person per platform, regardless of the number of comments or tags posted. Multiple accounts entering on behalf of the same individual will be disqualified.
(If your entry method above has no purchase requirement at all — e.g., just following/liking/tagging — you can state that clearly and note the alternate method isn’t legally required, but many sponsors include one anyway as best practice for social platform compliance.)
4. Prizes
Number of prizes: 2 (two) prize packs
Description: Each prize pack consists of two (2) general admission tickets to one (1) film from the “New German Cinema” program at the 2026 Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), held October 1–11, 2026. Winners may choose from six (6) designated New German Cinema screenings, subject to seat availability at the time of booking. Westcoast German News will provide each winner with unique code(s) to redeem their tickets at no additional charge through the VIFF ticketing system.
Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $44.00 CAD per prize pack (based on $22.00 CAD per ticket × 2 tickets). Total approximate retail value of all prizes: $88.00 CAD.
Restrictions:
- Tickets are valid only for the six (6) designated New German Cinema screenings during VIFF 2026 (October 1–11, 2026) and are subject to seat availability at the time of booking.
- Tickets must be booked by the winner using the code(s) provided by Westcoast German News and cannot be transferred, resold, or redeemed for cash.
- Westcoast German News reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute any prize (or portion thereof) with a prize of equal or greater approximate retail value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable for any reason.
- The winner is solely responsible for any applicable taxes and for all costs and expenses associated with attending the screening(s), including but not limited to transportation, parking, accommodation, and meals.
5. Winner Selection & Notification
The winner will be selected by random draw from all eligible entries received during the Entry Period, on or about September 30, supervised by a representative of Sponsor.
The winner will be notified by direct message/email/phone the same night of the draw. Sponsor will attempt to contact the winner up to 3. If the winner cannot be reached, does not respond within 4 hours of the first notification attempt, or does not meet eligibility requirements, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected by random draw from the remaining eligible entries, at Sponsor’s discretion.
6. Skill-Testing Question
As required by Canadian law, selected entrants must correctly answer, without assistance, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question before being declared a winner.
Example: “What is (4 × 3) + 7 − 2?”
7. Publicity / Consent
By accepting a prize, the winner consents, where permitted by law, to the use of their name, city of residence, and photograph/likeness by Sponsor for promotional purposes related to this contest (e.g., on social media, website, or newsletter), without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. Winner may be asked to sign a separate publicity release/waiver.
8. Personal Information
Personal information collected (name, email, phone number, social media handle) will be used solely to administer this contest — including winner selection, notification, and prize fulfillment — and will not be used for marketing purposes without separate, explicit opt-in consent. Westcoast German News/Media handles all personal information in accordance with PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act). Entrants may request access to, or deletion of, their information by contacting Elke at 604 828 8788 by Text/WhatsApp/Mobile.
9. Governing Law
This contest is governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from this contest shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of British Columbia.

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook, or Meta Platforms, Inc. Entrants release Meta from any and all liability related to this contest. Questions or comments regarding the contest should be directed to Westcoast German News, not to Meta.
11. General Conditions
Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify this contest, or these rules, at any time without notice, in the event of fraud, technical failure, or any factor beyond its reasonable control that impairs the integrity of the contest. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, or illegible entries.
